Performing Arts Classes for 4 - 8 Year Olds

LightsDown Theatre School have a number of special classes for very young performers. These classes are designed to meet the needs of four to eight year olds. Your little star will develop both onstage and off; improving their confidence, communication and social skills through lively and interactive lessons.

"Downstage" classes run at a number of LightsDown venues. The children work with one dedicated teacher to guide them through each term's theme; previous themes have included "Jungle Fever", "High School Musical" and "Space Adventures".

Each week the LightsDown venue is transformed into a creative space in which the students act, sing and dance (and play lots of games too!) Then, at the end of most terms, parents are invited to watch a demonstration of work.

Downstage students work on special challenges throughout the term:

• Sticker Chart - stickers are awarded for completed tasks (such as remembering song words or drawing a picture of their character at home). Collect ten stickers to receive a certificate!
• STAR cards - for really fantastic work we award "Super Talented And Reliable" cards. 3 cards = a LightsDown MEDAL!

Our classes are designed to be a fun and exciting! However, they also develop key skills such as confidence and self-expression - parents and school teachers notice those that attend LightsDown!

Each term is ten weeks long and there are three terms in a year. All of our teachers are experienced performers and naturally, CRB (police) checked, for their suitability to work with children.

Students in Downstage are currently working towards a variety show at the end of term - why not come and be part of the fun?
