Welcome to LightsDown Hereford!

We are very excited to have recently opened our second LightsDown academy! Our Hereford school has been going from strength to strength, with students performing in "Seussical" at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms, and recently putting together a variety show featuring hit songs from Grease and Glee!

LightsDown's training is unique - we mix lots of fun into our lessons but the classes are serious. You'll be working with professional performers to create full-scale productions which could include: Fame, Honk!, Hairspray and Guys and Dolls!

Our plans for Hereford are big! We've got some great lessons lined up as well as some fantastic shows and we'd love you to be part of it!

***FREE TRIAL - come along for one week and try us out. Simply get in touch and we'll book you in for a FREE trial session***

Many thanks,

James Dakers, Principal - LightsDown Theatre School Hereford

Fame Dancers

An hour of Acting, an hour of Singing, an hour of

Dancing ... and 3 hours of FUN!

It's not all about talent at LightsDown - there are no auditions and no selections; all we ask is that you are enthusiastic and love to perform. Maybe you've only ever sung in the shower, or danced in your living room while everyone was out - if so, we want you at LightsDown!

You'll be working with professionals who travel from London each week to teach you. Our teachers have appeared in shows such as "Life on Earth" at The London Palladium (currently home to Sister Act the Musical) and "Fame" at the Sandpit Theatre in St Albans. These Directors, Musical Directors and Choreographers will help you build your technique, improve your confidence and shine at our regular performances.

A BIG class for little performers!

Students aged from 4 – 8 are in Downstage. They have an hour each week to work with a fun and creative teacher who introduces them to a whole variety of acting, singing and dance activities. They experiment with new characters, role-play and learn songs and dances to show off to their parents at our regular demonstrations. Please click on the left hand menu link for further information about our 4 - 8 Year Old classes

Main Academy for ages 8+

Main school students are grouped into two classes by age: Centrestage (ages 8 – 11) and Upstage (ages 12 – 18). All of these students spend 3 hours with us each week and enjoy an hour of each discipline (Acting, Singing and Dance). Unlike Downstage they have a separate, specialist tutor for each class and work towards full-scale productions throughout the year. The students can also gain qualifications with Trinity/Guildhall by taking additional one-to-one classes at LightsDown. See ‘Get Qualified’ for more details.

What's in a name?

At LightsDown you pay for the training, not the name. We are an independent theatre school run by three professional performers who really care for our students. We have experience in all aspects of Performing Arts and are still active performers. LightsDown has a first-class child protection policy and is committed to the safe-guarding of our students. We are proud to be the only school in Herefordshire that is recognised by the Council for Dance Education and Training.

CDET Recognised School
