Cinderella, December 2011
Cinderella at Ludlow Assembly Rooms

LightsDown students recently had the chance to star alongside some of their teachers in the professional production of "Cinderella" at 'The Assembly Rooms' in Ludlow.

Many students from LightsDown Ludlow joined teachers James Dakers, Louise Flitney and Jordan Leech on stage for 10 performances of the most magical pantomime ever!

James Dakers, Principal of LightsDown Theatre School, who was starring as 'Buttons' in the show said: "Giving the LightsDown students the opportunity to take part in a professional show, alongside West End performers, and Mike Christie (from ITV's X Factor and boyband G4) was a real treat. We could see that they were learning so much during the rehearsals and they made us all incredibly proud at the performances".

Student of the Year Awards, July 2011 The Wiz Summer School AWARDS

With so many talented students, each year it just gets harder and harder to pick out a few to receive our end of year awards. The amazing performances of so many of the students in Billy Elliot made it even more difficult than normal, this year!

After MUCH deliberation, here’s who we chose:

Downstage Award Ludlow – Alexandra Palmer
Downstage Award Hereford – Isabel D’Avanzo
Centrestage Award Ludlow – Abigail Gwilliam
Centrestage Award Hereford – Liberty Miles
Upstage Award Hereford – Callie Campbell
Upstage Award Ludlow – Chloe Knott
Student of the Year 2011 – Hayley Morgan
Outstanding Achievement as Billy Elliot – Amy-Mae Hilton
Billy Elliot, May/June 2011 Billy Youth Theatre

LightsDown were delighted to be announced as one of only 70 groups allowed to perform the West End hit show, Billy Elliot. Billy Youth Theatre is a scheme designed for schools, youth theatres and community groups. Our version contains all of the characters and songs from the London production, with a score by the one and only Sir Elton John. The show played to over 1000 people at The Courtyard, Hereford between 30th May and 1st June 2011.

We were overwhelmed by the amount of positive feedback, with many audience members saying it was the best show they had seen at The Courtyard. We even had to add another night as we sold-out so quickly!

A true success story and a massive congratulations to our incredible LightsDown students.
